DALLAS, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl soccer team was picked to win the 2025 American Southwest Conference women's soccer preseason poll, in a vote of the league head coaches and directors of sports information, announced on Thursday.
Junior Cowgirl forward
Lexi Templin was named the preseason offensive player of the year. She is the reigning ASC offensive player of the year and was first-team all-ASC at forward with 16 goals and five assists last season. Templin was named an ASC preseason player to watch as well for the Cowgirls.
Cowgirl seniors
Belle Floyd and
Kalea Willis were named ASC players to watch alongside Templin. Floyd started 16 games in the midfield with two goals in 2024 and Willis was the ASC co-defensive player of the year.
Hardin-Simmons and head coach
Rusty Oglesby went 17-2-2 and a perfect 8-0 in conference play and won the 2024 ASC championship for the 26
th time in school history to finish the season in the NCAA tournament.
The Cowgirls will start the season on Aug. 29 on the road at the University of Dallas before the team's first home game on Sept. 4 against McMurry at the HSU Soccer Complex.
