BELTON, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowboy soccer team took down the Schreiner Mountaineers 4-0 with four second-half goals in the win on Saturday night playing in Belton, Texas.
After a scoreless first half, the Cowboys got a goal in the 55
th minute from
Diego Espinoza with an assist from Jaxson Shaffer to lead 1-0.

Benny Lube scored his first goal for the Cowboys in the 65
th minute to extend the lead, and
James Webb added another score in the 67
th minute with an assist from
Trace Binyon to make it 3-0 Cowboys.
Binyon got a goal of his own in the 78
th minute with a Lube assist to make it a 4-0 Cowboy win over Schreiner.
Hardin-Simmons led with 17 shots and nine shots on goal. Schreiner finished with six shots and four shots on goal. HSU led with four corner kicks to one allowed.
Joel McPherson started in goal for the Cowboys and had two saves in 45 minutes in the win.
Griffin Cardwell played 45 minutes starting the second half and finished with two saves in the combined shutout for HSU.
The Cowboys improved to 1-1 with the win over Schreiner and will play at home on Thursday, September 4 at 8 p.m. against the McMurry War Hawks.
