Cowgirls Shutout Concordia For Road Win

ROUND ROCK, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl soccer team defeated the Concordia Texas Tornados 3-0 on Thursday night on the road for a shutout win in Round Rock.

The Cowgirls finished the first half with no score in a tie ballgame. Hardin-Simmons came out and scored three goals in the second half for the 3-0 win over Concordia.

Keanne Alamo scored her first goal of the season for the game-winner in the 55th minute with an assist from Belle Floyd.

Taylor Koch notched her third goal of the year across to extend the Cowgirl lead in the 69th minute thanks to a Maeve Connerty assist.

Freshman Abbey Dugan scored her first goal as a Cowgirl for the icing on the cake in the 3-0 Hardin-Simmons win and was assisted by Tatum Barnett in the 82nd minute.

Hardin-Simmons shot 19 times with seven shots on target. They held the Tornados to seven total shots and three shots on goal. HSU led the margin in corner kicks with five to none.

Abigail Medlin had a great start in the combined shutout in goal for the Cowgirls playing the first half with one save. Samantha Longoria started the second half as the HSU keeper and kept it clean with a save as well.

Medlin also did a great job earlier in the week as a guest on the Hooyah Podcast, brought to you by HSU Athletics and hosted by Cole Burk and Chad Grubbs. Be sure to check back every Wednesday on any music streaming platform or at hsuathletics.com on the Broadcasts tab to keep up to date with Hardin-Simmons athletics.

The Cowgirls improved to 4-1-2 after the win at Concordia and will return to Abilene to take on Texas Lutheran on Saturday at 5 p.m. at the HSU Soccer Complex.
