BROWNWOOD, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl volleyball team swept the Howard Payne Yellow Jackets on Friday night in American Southwest Conference play on the road.
The Cowgirls won on set scores of 25-15, 25-13, and 25-16. HSU finished with 40 kills, 12 aces, and seven blocks in the win over Howard Payne.
Leigh Jespersen led the Cowgirls with ten kills.
Jadyn Hernandez hit nine kills in 15 tries with zero errors for a .600 hitting percentage.
Keatyn Rodgers finished with 17 assists and
Allison O'Shaughnessy had nine assists and served seven aces in three sets.
Kat Martinez scooped up 19 digs for the Cowgirls for her highest total this season. Jespersen had ten digs and finished with a double-double with kills.
Hardin-Simmons started the ASC season 1-0 and improved to a record of 10-2 on Friday night and will have the rest of the weekend off before hosting the No. 5 ETBU Tigers on September 26 at 6 p.m. in the Mabee Athletic Complex for more ASC action.
