Belle Floyd scored twice, and Hardin-Simmons opened American Southwest Conference play with a commanding 6-0 win over East Texas Baptist on Saturday night at the HSU Soccer Complex.

The Cowgirls struck quickly when Floyd converted a penalty kick just 39 seconds into the match.
Tatum Barnett added a goal in the 21
st minute off a feed from
Riley Surratt, and
Abbey Dugan scored twice before halftime to put Hardin-Simmons ahead 4-0.

In the second half,
Kalea Willis found the net in the 49
th minute, and Floyd notched her second goal less than two minutes later, assisted by
Presleigh Thiessen.

Hardin-Simmons out-shot the Tigers 30-7, including 15-5 on goal. ETBU goalkeeper Cadence Tischler made nine saves, but the Tigers couldn't slow the Cowgirl attack.

Abigail Medlin,
Samantha Longoria, and
Peyton Scott - combined for the shutout.

The Cowgirls improved to 6-1-2 and 1-0 in the ASC and will host Howard Payne on Oct. 4 at the HSU Soccer Complex at 5 p.m.
