ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl volleyball team dropped a match 3-0 to the No. 2 ranked East Texas Baptist Tigers on Friday night at the Mabee Athletic Complex in American Southwest Conference play.
The Cowgirls surged back from down 8-1 in the first set to only trail 16-12. HSU scored four points straight to cut the lead to 19-17 before taking the lead on the No. 2 Tigers 21-20 with a big block from
Jadyn Hernandez and
Rachel Nordt. ETBU took the first set 25-22 late over the Cowgirls.
Hardin-Simmons dropped the final two sets in the match 25-16 and 25-13 against ETBU to go down 3-0 on the night in ASC play.
Hernandez and
Leigh Jespersen led the Cowgirls in kills with seven each. Hernandez also led the match with six combined blocks, with one solo and five block assists.
Keatyn Rodgers finished with 13 assists and
Allison O'Shaughnessy had 11 assists.
Kat Martinez finished with ten digs at libero for Hardin-Simmons.
Hardin-Simmons fell to 10-3 on the season and 1-1 in ASC play with another match on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Mabee Complex against Mary Hardin-Baylor.
