KINGSLAND, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' women's golf team is three shots out of the lead in a tightly-bunched leaderboard after the first round of the Texas Legends Cup at The Legends Golf Club in Kingsland, Texas.
Southwestern shot 322 and leads Schreiner by two strokes the Cowgirls by three strokes and Mary Hardin-Baylor's B team by five strokes. East Texas Baptist is fifth at 333, McMurry sixth at 338 and Concordia is seventh at 340.
Freshman
Addison Payne led the way for the Cowgirls with a 78 on Monday and she is in third place overall.
Allison McGinnis is in sixth place with an 80.
Shay West shot an 82,
Ariana Chavez had an 85 and
Aly Navarro shot an 88.
Julia Hughes shot 92 playing as an independent.
Lorelai Martinez of Schreiner and Sydney Jackson of Southwestern share the individual lead after shooting 77. Payne and Rylee Beard of ETBU are both one shot back at 78.
The final 18 holes will be played on Tuesday morning.
