ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowboy basketball team rolled to an 80-68 win over ETBU on Saturday at the Mabee Athletic Complex in American Southwest Conference play with a big second half showing.
The Cowboys had a tale of two halves against East Texas Baptist on Saturday, shooting 32 percent with nine buckets in the first half for 25 points, and proceeding to double those numbers with a 51 percent second-half of 18 buckets for 55 points to win.
Three Cowboys had double-figure scoring nights and three more scored at least seven points in a well-rounded offensive night.
Chris Bryant led the field with 17 points shooting 6-of-9 for HSU.
After trailing 30-25 at halftime to ETBU, Hardin-Simmons climbed back into the driver's seat in the second half.
Asher Fleming tied the game 36-36 early in the second half. Fleming finished with 15 points and eight rebounds for the Cowboys.
HSU went on a tear with 11 minutes left in the second half, outscoring the Tigers 18-5 over a three-minute period. The Cowboys cemented the lead with solid free throws in the clutch for the 12-point win 80-68 against ETBU.
Matthew Alexander scored 15 points, and
Trevion Howell finished with eight points and a pair of steals.
Tyler Williams had ten rebounds to go with seven points and
Jamar Ingram had another seven points in the Cowboy arsenal.
The Cowboys improved to 13-8 and 2-0 in ASC play and will play at Howard Payne on Tuesday, Feb. 5 in Brownwood at 7 p.m.
