Cowgirl Lights-Out First Half At Adrian Fuels 25-Point Win

ADRIAN, Mich. – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl basketball team had an overwhelming offensive performance at Adrian in the 25-point win on Friday night, winning by a final score of 75-50 over the Bulldogs to end the road trip.

The Cowgirls led 42-26 at the half in large part due to shooting 9-for-12 on 3-point shots, coming in at 75 percent from deep in the opening half. Twenty-seven of the 42 Cowgirl points in the first two quarters came from behind the arc.

Freshmen Avery Cathey and Tayley Bullen hit three 3-point shots each for Hardin-Simmons, finishing with 13 points and 11 points, respectively. Bullen added a career-high five steals against the Bulldogs, and Cathey currently ranks No. 6 in Division III in 3-point shooting percentage at 47% on the season.

Coincidentally, the long-range shooting subsided in the second as the Cowgirls were a combined 0-for-6 on 3-pointers in the third and fourth quarters, albeit the obvious lack in attempts.

Jacqueline Berry again led the charge with 15 points for the Cowgirls, adding three steals and two assists in the win. She leads the Cowgirls and the American Southwest Conference in scoring with 15.3 points a game and has now scored double-digits in 19-of-23 games as a sophomore. Add that to her freshman season of scoring ten or more points in 21-of-27 games, and Friday at Adrian is her 40th career game scoring in double-digits.

Angie Sacco had a season-best ten points, shooting 5-for-5 down low against Adrian in the win for the Cowgirls.

Despite the lack of 3-pointers, the Cowgirls still outscored Adrian 33-24 in the second half to round out the 75-50 win on Friday in Michigan.

The Cowgirls improved to 18-5 on the season after the trip to Michigan and will return home for an ASC match with Mary Hardin-Baylor on Tuesday, Feb. 17 at 5 p.m. in the Mabee Athletic Complex.
