Box Score ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' men's tennis team came up with a clutch 4-3 win over Texas Wesleyan on Saturday morning at the Streich Tennis Center.
Pedro Rozani came up clutch for the Cowboys with the match tied at 3-3, he battled for a 12-10 win the tiebreaker in the first set. Then broke trailing 6-5 to force another tiebreaker in the second set which he dropped 7-5. He came back in the third set pro set and won 10-7 to seal the match.
HSU won the doubles point as
Payne Smith and
Gabriel Harris won 6-2 at No. 1.
Maddux Foster and
Kayden Lengacher won 6-3 at No. 2 to claim the point.
Smith claimed a 6-1, 7-5, 1-0 (10-5) win at No. 1 singles. He won the third set tiebreaker in dominating fashion, 10-5.
Brandon Curriel tied the match at 3-3 with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles.
The Cowboys are now 2-1 on the year and will travel to Concordia next Saturday in their next match.
