ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowboy and Cowgirl basketball teams won the right to host the 2025-26 American Southwest Conference men's and women's championship tournaments. Games will start with semifinals on Friday, Feb. 27 beginning at 12 noon at the Mabee Athletic Complex.
The Cowgirls locked down the top seed in the ASC finishing 5-1 in conference play. Head coach
Kendra Whitehead and her team led the league with a record of 20-5 and averaged 68.9 points a game. Sophomore forward
Jacqueline Berry leads the ASC with 15 points a game so far.
The women's bracket will start on Friday at 12 noon with number two Howard Payne playing number three East Texas Baptist. The number one Cowgirls will host number four Mary Hardin-Baylor at 2:30 p.m. in the Mabee Complex. The women's ASC championship game is Saturday, Feb. 28 at 2 p.m.
The Cowboy basketball team coached by
Matt Brackett finished at 16-9 in the regular season and 5-1 in the ASC to take the top seed. Junior
Chris Bryant leads the Cowboy team with 15.2 points a game on the year.
Hardin-Simmons will host the men's semifinals starting on Friday at 5 p.m. with number two Mary Hardin-Baylor playing number three East Texas Baptist. The number one Cowboys will play number four Howard Payne at 7:30 p.m. on Friday night. The ASC championship for men's basketball will be played Saturday at 6 p.m. at the Mabee Complex.
The winners of both men's and women's ASC championship tournaments will receive the automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.
