IRVING, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' men's golf team is in eighth place after shooting an open round 325 at the UD Invite at the Hackberry Creek Country Club in Irving.
LeTourneau and Southern Nazarene are tied for the team lead with 311.
Tyler Merchant led the Cowboys with a 76 and he sits in fourth place after the first round.
Keaton Blume is 14
th overall at 79.
Jake Koeninger shot an 84,
Kade Burton and
Riley Ellison each had rounds of 86 for the Cowboys.
Dawson Dunlap of SNU leads the medalist race after shooting a 3-under par 69 and has a three-stroke lead over Owen Prewitt of LeTourneau.
The teams will conclude the tournament with 18 holes on Tuesday.
