Box Score BROWNWOOD, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl basketball team went down 65-63 at the end of regulation to the Howard Payne Yellow Jackets in American Southwest Conference play on the road on Saturday afternoon.
Dylan Koele was electric with a career-high 25 points at Howard Payne. She shot 8-of-16 from the floor and made 6-of-11 three-pointers. Unfortunately, Koele was the only Cowgirl to convert from long range, as the rest of the team combined for 0-of-14 on three-point shots.
The Cowgirls led for 31 minutes of the 40-minute game, but Howard Payne made a late push to tie the game late.
Hardin-Simmons led 52-44 heading into the fourth quarter, but Howard Payne scored 21 points in the fourth quarter, including a layup to win the game 65-63 as time expired.
Jacqueline Berry scored 16 points and had seven rebounds, while
MaeSyn Gay had ten and Savannah had eight points.
Caroline Croft finished with seven assists for Hardin-Simmons.
Hardin-Simmons went down for the first time in ASC play to fall to 3-1 and 17-4 overall on the season. The Cowgirls will travel to Michigan to play at Hope on Feb. 11 in Holland, Mich. at 5 p.m.
