Box Score 2 GEORGETOWN, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowboy and Cowgirl tennis teams both went down 6-1 to the Southwestern Pirates on Sunday morning on the road.
The Cowgirls had a big win from
Sydney Tomlin in the first flight of singles. She defeated Daryl Locke 64, 6-2 for the point for HSU.
The Cowboys came away with two match wins, one in doubles that did not lead to a point won, dropping the second two doubles matches.
Payne Smith and
Gabriel Harris won 6-2 in doubles flight one against Joseph Snyman and James Arens.
Payne Smith won a point for the Hardin-Simmons team in the first flight of singles. Smith won 6-4, 6-4 against Ashton Ellis. The Southwestern men's team is currently ranked No. 34 in ITA national rankings.
The Cowgirls dropped to 2-4 on the year and the Cowboys went down to 3-2 after Sunday at Southwestern. The men and women of HSU tennis will be back in Abilene to play against Oklahoma Wesleyan at the Streich Tennis Center and compete against McMurry in an away match. All of those matches will take place on Thursday, March 5 at 2 p.m.
