HOUSTON, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' men's golf team finished in fifth place at the Space City Classic at the Gus Wortham Golf Course in Houston.
The Cowboys finished the tournament with a 297-295-205-867 and finished tied with Texas Lutheran. Southwestern won by three strokes over Trinity 853-856. Southwestern shot 283-282-288. Mary Hardin-Baylor was third at 859 and St. Thomas fourth at 864. Concordia and Millsaps rounded out the field.
Tyler Merchant led the Cowboys with a 14
th-place finish. He shot 71-74-73-218, one stroke ahead of teammate
Caden Fields who shot 72-73-74-219.
Carson Rosser shot 74 in all three rounds for a 222.
Harrison Cox shot 80-74-77 for a 231 total and
Peyton Gallaway shot 85-79-74-238.
HSU will return to action March 23 at the Linda Lowery Invitational.
