HOUSTON, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' women's golf team is in the lead after the first round of the Space City Classic, which is being played at the Gus Wortham Golf Course in Houston.

HSU has a 14-stroke lead over host St. Thomas. McMurry is in third at 334, Southwestern is fourth at 336 followed by Jacksonville College at 340 and Concordia is sixth at 346.

Senior Allison McGinnis is in the individual lead after shooting a 77. Ariana Chavez is one stroke back after shooting 78. Shay West shot an 81 and is in ninth place. Julia Hughes shot 83 and Addison Payne shot 86.

The Cowgirls will look for their first win of the season in the second round on Tuesday.
