ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl basketball team will host the first two rounds of the 2026 NCAA Division III women's basketball championship tournament, beginning Friday, March 6 at 5:30 and 8 p.m. in the Mabee Complex.
The Cowgirls will play Austin College at 8 p.m. on Friday night. Hardin-Simmons will host Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and Whitman College at 5:30 p.m. on Friday to start the NCAA Tournament. The winners of each game will play on Saturday in the second round at 8 p.m. in the Mabee Complex.
Tickets will be $15 for adults and $10 for seniors, students, and children. All children two years and under will be admitted for free.
Hardin-Simmons was the regular season champion and won the American Southwest Conference tournament championship to earn the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Head coach
Kendra Whitehead has now won three ASC Championships and will return to the NCAA Tournament for the fourth time with the Cowgirls.
Austin College won the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament championship, defeating SCAC opponent Hendrix College. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps won the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) championship against Cal Lutheran to advance, and Whitman College won the Northwest Conference (NWC) championship against George Fox to get to the NCAA Tournament.
The Cowgirls are now 22-5 on the year after the ASC Championship win and will continue Friday, March 6 against Austin College at 8 p.m. in the Mabee Complex for the NCAA Tournament first round.
