ROUND ROCK, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' men's golf team finished in sixth place at the Linda Lowery Invitational at Teravista Golf Club in Round Rock.
The Cowboys moved up a spot in the second round with a 302 total. They finished the tournament with a 305-302-607 total. LeTourneau ran away from the field shooting 286-289-575 for a 18-shot win over St. Thomas. East Texas Baptist was third at 600, Hendrix fourth at 601, Texas Lutheran fifth at 606 and HSU sixth at 607. McMurry (611), Concordia A (612), Texas Lutheran B (629), Howard Payne (641) and Concordia B (678) rounded out the field.
Tyler Merchant continued his steady spring with a 73-71-144 for a seventh-place finish. He led the field with 11 birdies over the two rounds.
Harrison Cox shot 71-78-149 for a 12
th-place finish.
Caden Fields and
Kade Burton both had huge improvements in the second round and finished with 132 totals. Fields shot 83-75 and Burton 82-76.
Carson Rosser shot 79-81-160.
Riley Ellison improved eight shots from round one as he shot 84-76, playing as a medalist.
Clayton Cates of LeTourneau shot 68-69-137 to win the individual title.
The Cowboys return to action at the West Region Invitational at White Bluff Golf Club in Whitney on April 13-14.
