GEORGETOWN, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' baseball team beat Southwestern, 8-4, to take the three-game series two games to one on Friday afternoon in Georgetown.
Freshman lefthander
Jeron Flores went seven strong innings for the Cowboys and moved to 4-1 on the year. He allowed just two hits and one earned run and struck out seven batters.
Bradley Fletcher worked one and two-third innings and
Garrett Keller got the final out.
Jacob Hollingsworth put the Cowboys up in the first with his third home run of the season and the Pirates tied it in the bottom of the inning.
Cannon Negron gave the Cowboys a 2-1 lead with a squeeze bunt single for an RBI. Tres Organ had his second RBI groundout of the game in the third to tie the game.
Hunter Trojacek and
Brock Calvillo each had RBI singles in the fourth and fifth innings to push the lead to 4-2. Trojacek had a sac bunt for an RBI in the sixth.
Justin Blancaflor brought home to ruins in the seventh and added a solo home run in the ninth.
Blancaflor led the Cowboys' 11-hit attack with three hits and drove in three, scored three times and stole a pair of bases.
The Cowboys are now 10-8 on the year and Southwestern fell to 2-9. HSU will host McMurry at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
