ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowboy outdoor track and field teams hosted the first meet of the spring on Thursday at the Hardin-Simmons Grape Street Complex, competing with McMurry and Nelson University.
Gray Albrecht led the Cowboy team in the 100m dash with a time of 11.18.
Davare Payne ran 11.27,
Rashar Steward came in at 11.51, and Keden Landeros ran an 11.64.
Parker Sexton finished the 100m in 11.71.
Donovan Simmons was the fastest 200m time in the meet, coming in at 23.10.
Dylan Mann ran a 200m time of 25.64.
Derrick Crump led the field in the 400m race, finishing in 52.45.
Jah'Shon Williams ran a 53.81, Michael Chriesman had a 54.43, and
Brett Zamzow ran 55.36.
Micah Klinkerman had a 55.48 and Steward finished the 400m in 56.01 for HSU.
Noah Bela led all participants in the 1500m with a time of 4:23.
Tate Strange came in at 4:25 and
Nathan Oxte ran a 4:26 for the Cowboy pack.
Williams finished the 110m hurdles in 15.72 for Hardin-Simmons, While
Kennan Dowling hurdled 15.75 and Mann clocked in at 19.45.
The 4x100m Cowboy team of Simmons, Payne, Crump, and Albrecht placed first with a race of 41.87.
The 4x400m relay team consisted of Albracht, Steward,
Holton Weatherman, and Zamzow, finishing second with a time of 3:30.
Gunner Helm led the meet in the high jump with a mark of 6-7 ½ ft. Williams cleared 5-11 ½,
Blake Osteen jumped 5-9 ¾ ft, and Sexton jumped 5-1 ¾ ft. for Hardin-Simmons.
Landeros had a third-place finish in the long jump with a best mark of 21-8 ft.
Markus Stone jumped 19-3 ¼ ft. for the Cowboys.
Jahymeer Larkins took the top spot on the Cowboy team in the shot put at 47-9 ft. and in the discus at 137-7 ft.
Nathan Mangual threw the shot 47-6 ½ ft., Reed Michna threw 43-7 ft., and Dominic Gracia had a 42-2 ¼ ft. throw. Robbie Almendez had a shot put throw of 34-7 ft.
Almendez was the next best in the discus at 134-6 ft. for HSU. Garcia threw 124-4,
Dristain Payne had a 113-3 ft. discus, and
Omar Harris III threw 71-9 ft.
Mangual threw the top hammer toss in the meet at 157-9 ft. Almendez had a 122 ft. hammer throw. Harris led the javelin with 179-2 ft. and Sexton threw 130 ft. in the javelin.
Hardin-Simmons will compete in Abilene at Abilene Christian for an outdoor meet on March 20-21.
