ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' men's and women's outdoor track and field teams ran at McMurry University on Friday and Saturday in Abilene at the 2026 War Hawk Classic with a record in the discus throw.
Jahymeer Larkins set the record for Cowboy outdoor team in the discus at McMurry, placing fourth. He threw the discus for a mark of 172-10 ft., eclipsing the previous record of 168-4 ft. from Dustin Baker in 2015.
Jah'Shon Williams placed fourth in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.64 for the Cowboys.
Omar Harris III was fourth in the javelin throw, landing a 175-9 ft. javelin toss at McMurry for the men.
Davare Payne had a fourth-place finish in the triple jump on Saturday, landing a 45-7 ¾ ft. jump for Hardin-Simmons.
The 4x100m Cowboy relay team of
Donovan Simmons,
Davare Payne,
Derrick Crump, and
Gray Albrecht placed third in 40.97 seconds.
Haley Smith had a 16-11 ¼ ft. long jump mark for the Cowgirl team at McMurry.
Lenora Busby competed in the discus throw, throwing 126-4 ft. for the Cowgirls.
Riley Birck led the 400m for Hardin-Simmons' women with a 1:00 time on the lap.
HSU track and field will head to Angelo State on April 23 for a meet in San Angelo, Texas.
