WHITNEY, Texas – Tyler Merchant shot a pair of 73s to lead the Hardin-Simmons men's golf team at the West Region Invitational, which is being played at the White Bluff Resort in Whitney.
Merchant had six birdies on the day and is tied for fourth place overall. Cole MacMillian of Mary Hardin-Baylor leads the tournament with a six-under-par 138.
Riley Ellison shot 81-74-155 for the Cowboys,
Keaton Blume shot 80-79-159,
Harrison Cox shot 79-82-161 and
Kade Burton had rounds of 83 and 87 for a 170 total.
Bobby Dominy shot 92-94 playing as a medalist.
The Cowboys shot 313-308-621 and are in fifth place. Mary Hardin-Baylor 292-296 and Trinity 286-302 are tied for the team lead at 588.
The teams conclude the event with 18 holes on Tuesday.
