Box Score COPPELL, Texas — Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl tennis team dropped a 6-1 match to the nationally ranked University of California, Santa Cruz, on Friday afternoon at Coppell High School.
The Cowgirls dropped the doubles point after losses in the first and second flights.
Christa Bennett and
Taylor Levy earned Hardin-Simmons' lone doubles win with a 6-4 victory in the third flight.
Sydney Tomlin and
Brenna Gordon competed in first-flight doubles, while
Addyson Tylaska and
Halle Smith played in the second flight.
Emma Curiel picked up the only team point for HSU in singles play, rallying for a 7-6, 5-7, 11-9 win at fifth flight singles.
Tomlin pushed her first-flight singles match to three sets before falling 3-6, 6-3, 4-6. Gordon competed at second-flight singles, while Tylaska went three sets in the third flight before dropping a close decision.
Levy also battled to a third-set tiebreak at fourth-flight singles before falling 7-5, 1-6, 1-0 (10-6).
Abigail Diamond played at sixth-flight singles for the Cowgirls.
The Cowgirls will be back in action tomorrow morning against East Texas Baptist from Coppell High School beginning at 10 a.m.
