Four Cowboys Named All-Region

ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' baseball team had four players earn all-region awards as both the American Baseball Coaches Association and D3baseball.com announced their awards on Tuesday morning, ahead of the Division III World Series.

Senior Caleb Reynolds was named first-team all-region by the ABCA and was named third team by D3baseball.com. Reynolds set the HSU school record for strikeouts in a season with 86. He went 8-2 with a 3.02 ERA.

Junior Catcher Ridings was named to the first team by D3baseball.com and second team by the ABCA as a designated hitter. He hit .425 with six home runs and 38 RBIs. He led the team with 26 walks and a .525 on-base percentage and led the team with 15 doubles.

Sophomore shortstop Paul Samaripa was named third team by both organizations. He hit .345 with eight home runs and 43 RBIs. He also fielded .970 with just five errors on the season.

Freshman catcher Gavin Bruning was named to the second team by D3baseball.com. He led the team with a .427 batting average and had four home runs and 26 RBIs.

The Cowboys went 26-16 and finished second in the American Southwest Conference. HSU set the school record for batting average (.346) and on-base percentage (.422). The 26 wins were the most in a season for HSU since 2016.
