WHITNEY, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' men's golf team finished second at the American Southwest Championship on Sunday at the White Bluff Golf Resort in Whitney.
Mary Hardin-Baylor won the tournament with a 289-277-287-853. The Cowboys shot 316-300-305-921. Howard Payne was third at 327-307-322-956 and East Texas Baptist was fourth at 328-307-324-959.
Harrison Cox led the Cowboys on Sunday with a 72 and finished as the top Cowboy for the weekend with a 78-80-72-230 total to finish seventh overall.
Senior
Tyler Merchant shot a 74 in his final round as a Cowboy. He finished tied for eighth overall at 81-76-74-231.
Caden Fields had a nice tournament and finished tied with Merchant for eighth. He shot rounds of 79, 71 and 81 for a 231 total.
Kade Burton finished 12
th with an 80-76-78-234,
Carson Rosser shot 79-77-83-239 and
Riley Ellison shot 82-79-81-242.
Cade Barone of Mary Hardin-Baylor shot a 69 on Sunday to rally for the medalist title over teammate Cole MacMillan. Barone shot 73-72-69 for a 214 total.
The tournament concludes the 2025-26 season for the Cowboys.
