MARSHALL, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl softball team ended the year at the 2026 American Southwest Conference championship tournament semifinal on Friday in two games played in Marshall, Texas.
The Cowgirls entered the day in the winners' bracket and went down 4-3 to No. 6 ETBU and dropped the elimination game 4-3 to UMHB Friday night in the semifinal.
The Cowgirls were down early to ETBU before
Grace Thompson tripled home two RBIs and the third runner was called out at the plate with the scored tied 2-2 in the fourth inning.
Emily Jacobs doubled to drive in another RBI and take the lead in the sixth 3-2.
ETBU tied the game and went into extra innings, scoring a run in the ninth inning to win 4-3.
Madi Hubbard, Thompson, and Jacobs all had two hits against ETBU.
Gabby Montanez pitched seven innings with a pair of strikeouts in the no decision.
Akaysia Grogan came in for an inning plus and had the loss on the late ETBU run.
The Cowgirls had an hour delay for scattered lightning before the elimination game against Mary Hardin-Baylor to follow.
Kimma Kincaid started at pitcher for Hardin-Simmons and only allowed three hits in the loss in seven innings.
UMHB led before HSU tied the game with an RBI from Thompson and another RBI from
Kinzley Cantu before another play at the plate went against the Cowgirls.
UMHB came up with a homerun to score two runs to lead 4-2 in the fourth inning.
Erin Love added an RBI in the sixth inning, but the Cowgirls went down 4-3 to UMHB in the ASC semifinal.
Bailey Miller had two hits for HSU and Jacobs had a double in the game.
Hardin-Simmons finished the year with a record of 21-12 in the semifinal of the ASC championship tournament. The team would like to thank the senior class of
