GEORGETOWN, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl volleyball team split on Friday, sweeping Linfield and dropping a match 3-1 to Texas Lutheran, playing in the tournament at Southwestern.
The first game of the day the Cowgirls took the first set against TLU before going down 3-1 in set scores of 14-25, 25-11, 25-20, 25-21.
Hardin-Simmons hit .324 with 14 kills in the set they won but ended hitting .174 in four sets.
Rachel Nordt hit ten kills to lead the Cowgirls.
Allison O'Shaughnessy had 23 assists, Madeleine Handon had 15 assists, and
Brylee Pursley had 28 digs against the Bulldogs of Texas Lutheran.
The Cowgirls made quick work of the Linfield Wildcats 3-0 in set scores of 25-23, 25-19, 25-22. HSU hit 41 kills as a team on 122 attacks for a .213 attack percentage in the win.
Avery Tumlinson hit 12 kills to lead the Cowgirls against Linfield and added four blocks.
Allison O'Shaughnessy led with 17 assists and freshman
Whitlee Blacklock had 13 digs for Hardin-Simmons.
The Cowgirls improved to 3-3 on the year and will continue in Georgetown on Saturday with matches against George Fox at 11 a.m. and host Southwestern Texas at 3:30 p.m.
