THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl volleyball team won two matches on Friday in the Cal Lutheran tournament, defeating Redlands and No. 25 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
The Cowgirls won against the AVCA No. 25 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athenas in five sets. The Cowgirls had set scores of 26-24, 20-25, 25-20, 15-25, 15-11 in the 3-2 win.

Kendall Crisp and her staff said, "We played two very tough teams and earned those wins with communication and teamwork. We responded well and made some incredible plays to win some big momentum shifts. We are proud of that and look forward to playing hard again for two more tomorrow."
Jadyn Hernandez led with ten kills in the win, with
Rachel Nordt and
Avery Tumlinson scoring nine kills apiece for Hardin-Simmons.
The three seniors also led the team in blocks, Hernandez with five, Nordt with four blocks, and Tumlinson combining for three blocks.
Allison O'Shaughnessy had 22 assists and
Madeleine Hanson had 20 assists in the win for the Cowgirls.
Brylee Pursley led the defense with 27 digs for Hardin-Simmons against the ranked Athena team.
The Cowgirls got the second win of the evening 3-1 over the Redlands Bulldogs, 25-22, 13-25, 25-19, 25-18.
Ellie Carter led with 11 kills against the Bulldogs, while Hernandez had another game of ten kills. Hernandez also had five more blocks in game two, and freshman
Maelee Montgomery had four blocks in the middle.
Allison O'Shaughnessy and Hanson had 16 assists each in the 3-1 win over Redlands. Pursley led once again in digs with 20.
The Cowgirls improved to 7-4 on the year and will play two more games in Thousand Oaks, Calif. on Saturday against Cal Lutheran and Pamona Pitzer at 2 & 5 p.m. CT.
