Chanin Billings

Biography
  • Billings is in her sixth season as the head softball coach for the Cowgirls.
  • In 2022, the Cowgirls finished 29-15 and 18-12 in the ASC, finishing third at the ASC Tournament.
  • The 2021 season saw the Cowgirls go 18-21 and finish third at the ASC Tournament, the second-straight trip to the ASC tournament final day.
  • The Cowgirls improved greatly in 2019 with Billings leading the team to a 21-23 overall record, 15-13 in the American Southwest Conference.
  • HSU finished third in the ASC tournament marking the team's first ASC Tournament appearance in five years.
  • The Cowgirls beat No. 2 East Texas Baptist with a walk-off home run.   
  • Billings and her staff were also named Co-Coaching Staff on the Year in the ASC for the 2019 season, along with the East Texas Baptist staff. 
  • Hired late in the summer of 2017, Billings had few returners and recruited what was in essence a brand new team for her first season, finishing 1-37 in 2018.

  • Served as an assistant coach at Harding University. In her lone season as a full-time assistant, she coached the hitters and infielders at Harding. The program had a remarkable campaign in just its fourth season as a program.
  • She helped lead the Lady Bisons to as high as a No. 2 national ranking in the NFCA poll during the season and finished the year ranked No. 9 nationally.
  • Harding went 58-9 on the year and advanced to the NCAA Division II Super Regionals after claiming the regular season and tournament titles in the Great American Conference.
  • Her team led the GAC with a .320 batting average and was second in NCAA Division II in fielding percentage at .977.
  • Served as a graduate assistant at Harding.
  • She also has served as a clinician and coached for the Texas Glory travel ball program.

Playing_Career

  • Played collegiately at the University of Kansas where she was a four-year starter at third base and was named the team captain as a senior.
  • She was named all-Big 12 in 2012.
  • She also led the Jayhawks to a pair of NCAA Tournaments.
  • She also was a member of the Mexican National Team in 2015-16.

Personal

  • Married her husband Brooks Billings in July of 2021. Brooks played football at Hendrix college and previously coached football at McMurry. 
  • Billings has a bachelor's of education degree in sports management from Kansas and a master's of business administration from Harding.
