Rusty Oglesby was hired as the head coach of the Cowgirl soccer program beginning in 2024 and is entering his second season at the helm.
Oglesby led the Cowgirls to the ASC championship in his first year with a record of 17-2-2. He was named the ASC coach of the year in 2024 and coached seven ASC major award winners that season. The Cowgirls finished the year in the NCAA Tournament at New York University.

He takes over the Cowgirl program that won its 25th American Southwest Conference title last fall and went to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.Â

Oglesby has had a distinguished coaching career in the high school ranks. He currently serves as the president of the 15,000-member United Soccer Coaches Association.

He has extensive coaching experience in both boy's and girl's soccer and football with stops at Red Oak, Beeville, Marble Falls, Canyon, Venus, Sachse, Frisco Wakeland, John Paul II and Justin Northwest. His teams have had great success including a 2021 state finals appearance at John Paul II and 2010 state title at Frisco Wakeland. Â Â

He was an All-American punter at Hardin-Simmons and was named to the 20-year anniversary team, was inducted into the HSU Football Hall of Fame and still holds three school records. He graduated from HSU in May of 1997 with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration.

Oglesby is married to Cory, who is the head girl's soccer coach at Abilene Wylie High School. He has five children: Cutter (27), a firefighter in New Braunfels, Chassiti (25) a doctoral student for Physical Therapy at UNT Health and Science, Oakley (5), Jacelyn (3), and Skylar born on New Years Eve last year.
