NEWBERG, Ore. – Hardin-Simmons' women's tennis has dropped the first two matches on a four-match trip to Oregon, Falling 9-0 to No. 28 Lewis and Clark and losing 7-2 to George Fox.
The Cowgirls played Lewis and Clark late on Friday night and then played George Fox on Saturday afternoon. The Cowgirls are playing Whitman late on Saturday night.
The closest the Cowgirls came to a win against LC was at No. 2 doubles where Abigail Kendall and Elizabeth Lopez lost in a tiebreaker. All of the singles matches were straight set losses.
The match against George Fox was much closer. Michaela Ellison won in three sets at No. 1 singles over Cartina Kwong and Kelsey Doege won at No. 5 singles in a third set. Maddie Hammond lost a three-setter at No. 4 singles.
The Cowgirls had narrow defeats at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles as well.
HSU is now 0-7 on the year and George Fox is 2-1 and Lewis and Clark is 2-0. HSU will close the trip playing Linfield on Sunday.
