Box Score LONGVIEW, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' baseball team fell 5-2 in the series finale at LeTourneau on Saturday in American Southwest Conference action.
LeTourneau scored a pair of runs on a Bryce Bruggemeyer single in the first. Noe Balderas had an RBI single in the third and Bruggemeyer an RBI single in the fourth.
HSU narrowed the deficit to 4-2 in the seventh on a Gabe Moore RBI double and a Nate Blachowicz RBI single. LeTourneau added a sacrifice fly in the eighth.
Brandon Girod tool the loss to fall to 0-2. He allowed three runs in two and two-third innings. Hayden Clark worked three and one-third innings and Grant Mizelfelt allowed one unearned run over two innings of work.
Raul Martinez worked six innings of two-run ball to improve to 2-1 on the year. Jedidiah Crone worked a scoreless ninth for the save.
Garrett Frazier and Colin Ethridge had two hits each for HSU. Four different Yellow Jackets had two hits each.
The Cowboys are now 5-13 overall and 2-10 in ASC play. LeTourneau improved to 9-11 overall and 7-5 in conference play.
HSU will host UT Dallas at 3 p.m. on Tuesday in non-conference action.
