Box Score ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' baseball team fell 12-2 to the Texas-Dallas Comets on Tuesday afternoon in a non-ASC midweek game at John J. Hunter Field.
The two teams pitched by committee for the midweek game. Riley Rice got the start for the Cowboys and John Rawlinson began for the Comets. Rawlinson benefited the win from the first inning and Rice had the loss for the Cowboys.
The Cowboys got some offense from a solo homer by Garrett Frazier in the first and an RBI double by Gabe Moore late, but could not overcome the deficit and finished down 12-2.
Nine pitchers saw action for the Cowboys. Brandon Girod did not allow a hit and had a strikeout and Raby Hampton had two strikeouts and only one hit allowed in just over an inning of work.
The Comets threw eight different arms, one per inning. Rawlinson had two Ks while only allowing the solo homer to Frazier in the first. Brandon Bane pitched around two hits and had a pair of strikeouts as well.
The Cowboys fall to 5-14 and the Comets improve to 11-6 after Tuesday's game.
