Box Score 2 PINEVILLE, La. – Hardin-Simmons' baseball team dropped an American Southwest Conference doubleheader on Saturday to Louisiana College, falling 8-6 and 11-1.
In the first game LC jumped out to a 3-0 lead, but Kolsen Powers tied the game in the second inning with a three-run home run, his third of the year. LC scored a run in the second and Jeremy Colon hit a two-run home run for the Cowboys in the third inning to give HSU a 5-4 lead.
LC scored three times in the fourth to make it 7-5 and Weston Hickman had an RBI fielder's choice in the sixth. The Wildcats added an insurance run in the sixth.
Garrett Frazier and Gabe Moore had two hits each for the Cowboys. Raby Hampton took the loss in relief.
In the nightcap, Colten Newsom worked six and one-third innings of one-run ball for LC and Beau Hebert worked the final two and two-third of scoreless relief for LC.
Colon had HSU's only RBI with a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning. Hayden Clark took the loss allowing five earned runs in four innings of work. Jamie Dominguez had two of the four HSU hits.
The Cowboys are now 1-5 on the year and 1-4 in ASC play. LC is now 8-2 on the year and 5-0 in league play. The two teams will play a single game at noon on Sunday.
