Box Score ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' baseball team dropped the series finale 19-9 at Louisiana College on Sunday afternoon in Pineville, La.
HSU jumped out to a 6-0 lead. Gabe Moore had an RBI single in the first inning and two more runs scored on an error. HSU scored on an error, a Jamie Dominguez groundout and a Colin Ethridge RBI single in the second inning.
LC scored three runs in the second inning, five in the third and another in the fourth to take a 9-6 lead and added a run in the sixth to make it 10-6.
HSU came back with three runs in the top of the seventh on a Zack Corbett RBI fielder's choice and a two-run double by Jeremy Colon. LC scored six runs in the seventh and three more in the eighth.
Zach Hudson led the Cowboys with three hits. John Clift started and Orel Rhodes took the loss in relief. Grant Mitzelfelt, Kadin Croak, Lake Schara and Chase Buchannan all worked in relief.
Nicolas Ramos had four of the 18 Louisiana College hits. Dylan Coburn won the game in relief with three innings of scoreless relief.
HSU is now 1-6 overall and 1-5 in league play. LC improved to 9-2 overall and 6-0 in conference play. HSU returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts Schreiner in a doubleheader at 3 p.m. at Hunter Field.
