Box Score 2 GEORGETOWN, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' baseball team dropped a non-conference doubleheader at Southwestern, falling 12-2 and 5-3 on Tuesday in Georgetown.
In the first game, the Cowboys fell behind 7-0 before scoring single runs in the fourth and fifth inning.
Hunter Garrison and Nate Blachowicz each had two of the seven Cowboy hits.
Raby Hampton took the loss allowing seven runs in two innings. Riley Rice worked three scoreless innings, Isaiah Daniels and Chase Buchannan each worked out of the bullpen.
In the second game, Garrett Frazier hit his nation-leading 17th double of the season to drive home Zach Hudson in the first. Another HSU run scored on an error.
Maxwell Mims tied the game in the first with a two-run home run. Cody Harral had an RBI single for the Cowboys in the third. Southwestern scored a run in the third and two-run single in the fourth by Daniel Montgomery was the difference.
Jeremy Colon had two of the seven HSU hits. Lake Schara got his first start and worked three and one-third innings allowing five runs (three earned) to take the loss. John Clift, Orel Rhodes and Grant Mitzelfelt were scoreless out of the bullpen.
HSU is 7-18 on the year and Southwestern improved to 14-12. HSU will play at Howard Payne this weekend in ASC action.
