Box Score CLARKSVILLE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' baseball team responded on Saturday with a 10-3 win over Ozarks in American Southwest Conference action in Clarksville, Ark.
HSU lost the first two games of the series on Friday but HSU came out early with a pair of runs in the top of the first and never trailed in the game. Jett Forrest had an RBI single and Sam Buchkowski added a sacrifice fly in the inning.
Ozarks tied the game in the fifth inning on a pair of RBI singles. HSU retook the lead in the sixth on a Nick Ellington RBI single in the sixth. In the seventh inning, Forrest hit his ASC-leading ninth home run of the season and Corey Ballew added a two-run home run to make it 6-2.
The Cowboys added three runs in the eighth on a Gannon Azios RBI single and Buchkowski sacrifice fly and Ballew added his fourth home run of the season in the ninth.
The offensive support was more than enough for Brandon Girod who tossed his second-straight complete game. Girod scattered eight hits and three runs while striking out eight batters to improve to 2-2 on the year. Dylan Kuester allowed five runs for Ozarks and took the loss to fall to 1-4.
Forrest had three hits for the Cowboys and Azios, Ballew, Ellington and Weston Hickman added two hits each. Dru Didway continued his hot weekend with three hits for Ozarks.
HSU is now 12-11 on the year and 9-9 in league play,. Ozarks fell to 6-16 overall and 6-9 in ASC action. HSU continues its road trip with a doubleheader at Arlington Baptist on Tuesday.
