ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowboy soccer team went down 3-2 in a grudge match 3-2 to the Mary Hardin-Baylor Cru on Thursday night in American Southwest Conference action.
The Cowboys came in at 4-0-1 in conference with UMHB at 5-0 in a game for outright first in the ASC.
A game between Hardin-Simmons and Mary Hardin-Baylor is always intense, and this rendition lived up to tradition.
After a Cru goal in the third minute, the Cowboys fought back to tie in the 49

J.J. Sissen to finish for his third goal of the year.
The battle had just begun with the game knotted at 1-1 in the second half. A Cru goal to take the lead in the 58
th ended with cards handed out all around for some antics to stir the pot at 2-1.
The lead quickly went to 3-1 in the 62
nd minute for UMHB. A set piece saw
Jack Sissen fire one off the keeper rebounding to
Jerron Garcia for his first Cowboy goal in the 81
st minute with HSU playing a man down at the time.
The game would end with a 3-2 final score, but not before a total of 12 cautions were handed out, including three red cards.
Hardin-Simmons shot 23 times with ten shots on goal to 11 and seven for UMHB. HSU led with nine corner kicks to two.
Carson Null had four saves starting in goal for the Cowboys.
