ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl volleyball team defeated the Concordia Texas Tornados 3-1 on Friday at the Mabee Athletic Complex in American Southwest Conference play.
The Cowgirls dropped the first set before taking the next three for the win, with set scores of 23-25, 25-19, 25-19, 25-12. The Cowgirls improve to 4-5 in ASC play.
Hardin-Simmons hit .270 with 53 kills while Concordia hit .107 with 45 kills in the match.
Gabby Jones led the floor on offense with a career-high 20 kills for the Cowgirls in the win hitting .606.
Liz Underwood added nine kills and
Jadyn Hernandez hit seven kills for HSU in the game. Hernandez also had seven blocks on defense for the Cowgirls.
Ali Meyer led the Cowgirls with 27 assists and
Keatyn Rodgers assisted 19 times in the win.
Kat Martinez had 29 digs for Hardin-Simmons.
The Cowgirls improve to 10-11 and 4-5 on the year in the ASC and will host Mary Hardin-Baylor at 1 p.m. on Saturday in the Mabee Athletic Complex.
