ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl volleyball team dropped an ASC match to the Texas-Dallas Comets 3-0 at the Mabee Athletic Complex on Friday night.
The Cowgirls went down in sets of 28-26, 25-20, 26-24 to UTD. Hardin-Simmons came back from a 7-0 run by the Comets in the first set to make it 14-8 to force a match point for the Cowgirls before eventually dropping the set 28-26.
The Cowgirls hit .145 with 39 kills and UTD went for .225 and 53 kills in the match.
Gabby Jones led the Cowgirls with ten kills, while
Liz Underwood had nine and
Jadyn Hernandez had eight kills.
Ali Meyer and
Keatyn Rodgers led the Cowgirls with 16 assists each.
Kat Martinez led the team in digs with 15, with Underwood getting 14 digs and Meyer 12 digs for Hardin-Simmons.
The Cowgirls fall to 8-9 on the season and 3-3 in the ASC while UTD moves to 5-9 and 4-2 in conference. Hardin-Simmons returns to the Mabee Saturday to play East Texas Baptist at 1 p.m.
