ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl basketball team took down the Trinity Tigers 92-88 in a nail-biter overtime win at the Mabee Athletic Complex on Saturday afternoon.
The Cowgirls went up 22-18 after the first quarter and held a 39-33 lead at the half. Trinity got hot in the third to head into the fourth with HSU up 57-56.
The two teams battled in the fourth quarter with four lead changes, and the Cowgirls clutched the final two minutes after trailing by four to head to overtime 75-75.
The game was tied at 84 with a minute left in overtime before a three-pointer from
Paris Kiser gave the Cowgirls the lead 87-84. Kiser led the Cowgirls with 23 points and nine rebounds, shooting 9-16 and 5-8 from downtown.
Parris Parmer finished the game strong for Hardin-Simmons shooting 4-4 from the free throw line to ice the game 92-88 for the Cowgirls over Trinity.
Parmer scored 17 with eight rebounds and
Samantha Tatum hit three three-pointers with 18 points in the win.
Kiki Gonzales scored 13 with eight boards for Hardin-Simmons.
Anna Fanelli led the Cowgirls with seven assists.
The Cowgirls go to 4-0 on the year and will travel to begin American Southwest Conference play on Thursday at LeTourneau starting at 5:30 p.m.
