ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowboy basketball team took down the UT-Dallas Comets 94-85 in American Southwest Conference play on Monday afternoon at the Mabee Athletic Conference.
 
There was no shortage of scoring to open up the ASC game between the Cowboys and Comets on Monday. UTD shot 58% in the first half going 18-31 and HSU went 17-28 from the field for 60% in the first 20 minutes, with the Cowboys leading 52-45.
 
The Cowboys led by as many as nine points in the first half, up 29-20, and the Comets biggest lead in the half was four points, up 12-8.
 
Jason Justice had 17 and hit a three to put the Cowboys up 64-51 with 16 minutes in the second half, the largest HSU lead of the game at 13 points.
 
Texas-Dallas got to as close at four points from the Cowboy lead a few times in the half, including down 89-85 with 39 seconds left. Hardin-Simmons stabilized and got back out to 94-85 for the win in ASC play.
 
Will Bartoszek and 
Austin Brewer both had big scoring days, with 26 and 25 respectively. Bartoszek had ten rebounds for the double-double for Hardin-Simmons.
 
Jalen McGee had an incredible ten assists for the Cowboys in the win, a whole dollar's worth of dimes.
 
The Cowboys remain atop the ASC at 9-2 and 5-0 in conference play while UTD falls to 6-3 and 2-1 in the ASC. HSU will go on the road, at Texas Lutheran Dec. 20 and at Schreiner Dec. 21, with both games tipping off at 5:30 p.m.
