ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' baseball team fell 10-4 to the University of the Ozarks on Sunday afternoon at Hunter Field.
The Cowboys won the series with a doubleheader sweep on Saturday. HSU is now 5-7 overall and 4-2 in conference play.
Ozarks jumped to a 6-0 lead after the top of the sixth inning with a single run in the second, two in the fourth, one in the fifth and two more in the sixth.
HSU scored twice in the sixth when Cole Antonelli had a triple down the right field line to bring home Nick Ellington and then scored on a Colby Seltzer groundout. Seltzer then added a two-run home run in the eighth inning to narrow the deficit to 6-4.
However, Cole Clark had a solo home run and Dru Didway a three-run shot in the ninth for the Eagles.
Brandon Bane took the loss for the Cowboys he allowed five runs on nine hits in five innings of work to fall to 0-3 on the year. Johnny Follett, Wyatt Tumlinson and Caleb Smith all worked out of the bullpen.
Antonelli had three of the seven HSU hits.
Josh Ropple went the distance for the Eagles to improve to 1-3 on the year. He allowed four runs on seven hits. Juan Munoz led the Eagles with four hits.
Ozarks improved to 3-11 overall and 2-4 in league play.
HSU will host Schreiner on Tuesday afternoon at 3 p.m. at Hunter Field.
