Box Score ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' baseball team pushed its winning streak to four straight games with a 13-9 win over McMurry on Friday afternoon at Driggers Field
HSU jumped out to a 3-0 lead. Kyler Reed had an RBI single in the second inning and Luke Kiirkbride had an RBI fielder's choice. Colby Seltzer hit a solo home run in the third inning.
Riley Hood had a two-run home run for McMurry in the third inning. HSU pushed the lead to 5-2 in the fourth innings when Gannon Azios walked with the bases loaded and later scored another run on a passed ball.
McMurry scored three times in the fifth inning and Josh Dyer had a solo home run in the fifth to give McMurry a 6-5 lead. Seltzer tied the game in the sixth with his 13th home run of the year. Koy Carpenter had a two-run home run and Blake Beach followed with a solo shot to give McMurry a 9-6 lead.
The Cowboys came right back with a seven-run seventh inning. Kirkbride, Seltzer and Forrest all had two-run singles in the inning and Sam Buchkowski added an RBI single.
Johnny Follett picked up the win in relief for the Cowboys. He worked the final three and one-third innings allowing no hits or runs and struck out four. Caidon Livingston came out after three and one-third innings and Caleb Smith worked two and one-third innings.
Forrest had four hits for the Cowboys and Seltzer had three hits and drove in four runs.
Hunter Poe the fourth of five McMurry pitchers took the loss to fall to 0-3 as he allowed three runs in two-thirds of an inning. Koy Carpenter led the War Hawks with three hits.
HSU is 18-20 on the year and 13-12 in ASC play. McMurry fell to 13-25 overall and to 7-18 in conference play. The two teams will play at doubleheader at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
