Box Score ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' baseball team fell 14-1 to Mary Hardin-Baylor in the first game of the American Southwest Conference series at Hunter Field on Thursday night.
The Cru scored three runs in the top of the first inning, using three stolen bases in the inning. Blake Harmon added a solo home run in the second inning to make it 4-0.
HSU scored its lone run of the game in the second inning when Jett Forrest doubled and moved to third on an error and scored on a sacrifice fly by Sam Buchkowski for the only Cowboy run of the night.
UMHB added one run in the seventh, two in the eighth and seven runs in the ninth.
Caidon Livingston took the loss allowing five runs in seven innings to fall to 6-3. Bryce Farlander earned the win for the Cru to improve to 1-1 on the year. He went seven innings and allowed just one unearned run on three hits.
Five different Cowboys had one hit each. Elijah Rodriguez had three hits for the Cru.
HSU is now 12-16 overall and 8-8 in the ASC. UMHB improved to 8-14 overall and 5-11 in league play. The teams will play a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Friday.
