COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl volleyball team fell in two 3-2 matches on Saturday against Augustana and Colorado College to end the opening weekend road trip.
The Cowgirls went down to Augustana 25-21, 22-25, 25-16, 20-25, 15-7 in the first match of the day. HSU hit .100 with 51 kills to .139 and 50 kills for the Vikings.
Liz Underwood and
Rachel Nordt led the Cowgirls with 13 kills and
Jadyn Hernandez added ten. Hernandez led with six blocks while Underwood had five and
Gabby Jones blocked four.
Ali Meyer led Hardin-Simmons with 23 assists followed by
Keatyn Rodgers with 17.
Kat Martinez led the team with 17 digs and Nordt added 15 for the Cowgirls.
The Cowgirls had another marathon match to five, falling to Colorado College 21-25, 26-24, 23-25, 25-15, 17-15. HSU hit .114 with 47 kills against Colorado College hitting .206 with 68 kills.
Jones led the Cowgirl attack in game two with 14 kills and Underwood had 11. Hernandez had another big blocking game with seven.
Sabrina Nelson had six blocks and Jones blocked five.
Rodgers led game two with 21 assists while Meyer assisted 17 times. Martinez led with 22 digs and Meyer had 13 digs.
The Cowgirls move to 1-3 on the season and will return to Texas to play a tournament at ETBU beginning against Belhaven at 3 p.m. on Sept. 8.
