ROUND ROCK, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl volleyball team defeated the Concordia Tornados 3-1 in American Southwest Conference play on the road Saturday.
The Cowgirls dropped the first set at Concordia before coming back for three straight sets. The scores were 21-25, 25-17, 25-21, 25-22.
The Cowgirls hit .242 on the day with 51 kills while Concordia hit .110 with 43 kills. Hardin-Simmons also had 15 blocks in the match against the Tornados.
Liz Underwood led the Cowgirls with 13 kills.
Rylee Ortega had 11 kills and
Gabby Jones had ten for HSU.
Keatyn Rodgers had 23 assists and
Ali Meyer had 17 for the Cowgirl team.
Kat Martinez led with 21 digs while
Lauren Sullivan had 14 and Meyer added 11 digs.
Jadyn Hernandez combined for seven Cowgirl blocks on defense with Jones and Ortega adding three each as well.
The Cowgirls improve to 7-5 and 2-1 in the ASC with another conference matchup on Tuesday all the way down on the south side against that other Abilene school beginning at 6 p.m.
