ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl basketball team dropped a conference game 93-89 to the UMHB Cru on Thursday night in American Southwest Conference play at the Mabee Athletic Complex.
The Cowgirls led for the majority of the contest, but the Cru surged in the fourth to take the lead late.
Aiken Semones hit a tying 3-pointer for Hardin-Simmons with eight seconds left to force overtime. Semones finished with 15 points on five made 3-pointers.
UMHB got a lead in overtime and iced the game at the free throw line to win 93-89.
The Cowgirls shot 32-80 for 40% and UMHB shot 34-70 for 48% in the game. The Cru led with 52 rebounds to 35 for HSU. There were eight lead changes in the game.
Paris Kiser led HSU with 22 points. Paris Parmer scored 16 points and had nine rebounds to lead the team.
Samantha Tatum joined Semones with 15 points and
Madison Williams scored 14 for the Hardin-Simmons offense.
Anna Fanelli had a season-high 11 assists for the Cowgirls. She leads the ASC with 83 assists and is up 30 assists on the next closest player in the conference.
The Cowgirls fall to 12-3 and 5-2 in the ASC while UMHB goes to 14-1 and 7-0 in the conference. The Cowgirls will host the Concordia Tornados on Saturday at 1 p.m.
