BROWNWOOD, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowboy basketball team handled the Howard Payne Yellow Jackets 94-82 on the road in American Southwest Conference play on Saturday.
The Cowboys finished up at Sul Ross in a non-conference win Thursday and have another road win to end the weekend in Brownwood.
HSU was led by the senior duo of
Will Bartoszek and
Austin Brewer, each finishing with a double-double in the win over Howard Payne. Bartoszek scored 26 with ten rebounds and Brewer scored 19 with ten rebounds.
Bartoszek sits at No. 2 in the ASC in scoring with 22. 8 points per game. Brewer is inside the top-20 players in the conference with 13.2 points per game.
The Cowboys opened it up with a 12-4 lead over Howard Payne in the first four minutes. HSU pushed out to a 15-point lead with seven minutes remaining in the first half and ended the half up 48-35 on the road.
Hardin-Simmons grew the lead up to 82-56 with just under eight minutes to play in regulation and left with a final score of 94-82 in the ASC win over Howard Payne.
Colin Roberts scored 16 against Howard Payne and
Jalen McGee had 11 points for the Cowboys.
Silas Livingston led with seven assists on Saturday.
The Cowboys improve to 16-3 and 9-1 in the ASC and will take another road trip next weekend at Ozarks on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in Clarksville, Ark.
