CLARKSVILLE, Ark. – Hardin-Simmons' Cowboy basketball teamed dropped a game to the Ozarks Eagles 73-70 on the road Thursday night in American Southwest Conference play.
The Cowboys led 38-31 at the half and were deadlocked with the Eagles at a score of 50-50 with ten minutes left in the game.
Ozarks got hot and went up 68-58 with four minutes remaining. The Cowboys had another late rally to overcome the deficit and tie the game at 70-70 with just 30 seconds to go.
The Eagles were awarded a pair of free throws and held off the Cowboy rally in the final minutes to drop Hardin-Simmons 73-70.
The Cowboys shot 43 percent and Ozarks shot an even 50 percent. HSU had the edge in rebounding 38-33 over the Eagles and had less turnovers with 13 to 16 for Ozarks.
Will Bartoszek led the Cowboys with 21 points and had eight rebounds.
Colin Roberts scored ten points and
Tyler Williams had nine points while leading the Cowboys in rebounding with ten boards.
The Cowboys drop to 16-4 on the year and 9-2 in the ASC with a match-up with UT Dallas on Saturday for the top spot in the conference heading into the final weeks of the season.
